Learn how to make a staple-house-made brown sugar syrup used in cafes at home, which you can use to style and sweeten your bubble drinks.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup muscovado sugar
  • 1/3 tsp lemon or lime juice

Method

  1. Boil a cup of water and mix the brown sugar until dissolved.
  2. Heat another small pot and add the muscovado sugar until dissolved.
  3. Add 1/3 tsp of lemon or lime juice to prevent the sugar from crystallizing.
  4. Then combine the brown sugar water mixture to the dissolved muscovado sugar.
  5. Bring to a light boil and stir occasionally.
  6. Once the syrup thickens, turn off the heat and let it cool before serving.
